Stalking A Serial Killer is narrated by quotes taken from detectives, residents, family members, witnesses, and survivors as a singular voice of a Phoenix neighborhood terrorized by a serial killer. The “Serial Street Shooter” has gunned down seven and wounded two. The killings are at random from his car and the victims are often in cars, near cars, or exiting their car.
Originally published during the week of the US election for the French magazine Society for their ‘America’ issue, this photo essay depicts the black and Hispanic neighborhood of Maryvale roamed by the killer, while serving as a metaphor for issues plaguing American policy and politics; a lack of immigration reform, racial inequity, a shrinking middle class, community policing dysfunction, a lack of mental health care and quotidian gun violence.
